The trip began in Talkeetna... a little "mountain" town that was a cross between Jackson and Northern Exposure. We spent a great weather day getting toasted in the local bar. I'm sure we weren't the first party to show up on the Kahiltna glacier with a hangover...

The plane we took in. The flight was absolutely beautiful, especially when we had good visibility (mostly on the way out).

Base camp as seen from the flight in.

Headed up on the first day. The glacier was in pretty good condition, but 100 pounds of gear doesn't move anywhere without a bit of effort.

9600 foot camp after an afternoon and night of snow. We had horrible weather down low.

Street building our 11,000 foot camp. A lot of shoveling and sawing later we had a pretty good shelter.

The "after" shot... our 11K camp with wind-proof walls.

Classic dinnertime at 11K feet. Cheese and boiled snow never tasted so good.

The three of us clowning around down low.

11K foot camp as seen from above on our carry day. We had such bad visibility that day I sometimes couldn't see my partners 50 feet in front of me on the rope.
